PURPLE event in Rhone-Alpes on the eve of the EU Agriculture Informal Council meeting in Annecy

The region of Rhone Alpes hosted an event in Chambéry on peri-urban challenges on 19 September just a few days before the EU Agriculture Ministers Informal Council met under the French Presidency in nearby Annecy. Following their meeting, PURPLE regions issued a Declaration to the EU Agriculture ministers setting out a peri-urban response to the territorial, environmental and food challenges facing the EU. Peri-urban regions have a major role to play in helping meet these challenges, and call for recognition and resources in the post-2013 CAP as well as in related territorial and spatial policies to ensure their enormous potential is realised.
