The 8th PURPLE General Assembly was hosted by the Planning Authority of Frankfurt Rhein-Main on 17 and 18 November.

The success of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main region is based on the interaction betwen the central city and the many towns and cities around it.  Within this network structure there is a considerable amount of open space.  Indeed, less than one kilometre from the European Central Bank intensive commercial horticulture takes place. This is a peri-urban situation typical of Europe's metropolitan regions.
